About

Originally from Leeds, I studied Fine Art at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne before settling in York to pursue a career teaching Engineering.

I have painted extensively, working primarily with oils, acrylics and watercolours, but I have always had a passion for making objects and working with materials. In the past year I have begun to channel this passion into creating garden sculptures.

I strive to create simple forms which enhance a garden rather than overpower it. My sculptures are designed to help frame a view or draw your eye an otherwise forgotten corner. The materials I use are selected to complement and echo the colours and textures found within a garden.

The processes and materials I use to make the sculptures are celebrated. Rather than strive for perfection, the rough finish of the welding and imperfections within the concrete bases are an important part of the final aesthetic. I believe, that this approach leads to a more natural and authentic piece of work.
